Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
